Scott's Story of Big City Experience with Small Town Values -

EARLY LIFE: Scott (at age 50) has now been practicing personal injury law for 21 years - in Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas.  After growing up in Kerrville, Texas (raised by his parents Yvonne Helwig and Bob Helwig), this Hill Country Native played scholarship basketball for Schriener University before obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Government from THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS.  After moving to Houston to obtain his paralegal certification, Scott quickly realized that he could help for people more by becoming an attorney like the ones for whom he worked.  Scott obtained his Juris Doctorate from a highly-recognized private law school in Houston, Texas - SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE OF LAW.  While in law school, Scott participated in the nationally awarded moot court team, received honors for obtaining the highest grade in class, won competitions for "Best Brief," and graduated in the top portion of his class.  He is a current member in good standing with The State Bar of Texas and a proud member of Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association.

CAREER:  Scott began his legal career working for an insurance defense firm in San Antonio, Texas.   The experience opened his eyes to how good people got treated badly by greedy insurance companies and their attorneys.  Wanting no part of that existence, Scott began learning the art of representing innocently-hurt individuals from highly experienced trial lawyers.  Having been trained by some of Texas's best trial lawyers presented by THE TEXAS TRIAL LAWYER ASSOCIATION and THE STATE BAR OF TEXAS, Scott was left with a love to take on big companies.  Scott has worked in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and has filed lawsuits in countless counties around Texas.  In addition, Scott was once featured in 2005 as a guest lawyer on FOX NEWS after he filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Wal-Mart.  Scott has represented a parking lot shooting case case all the way up to the Texas Supreme Court.

FOR FUN:   As you can see from the picture on the left, Scott is an avid fisherman.  When he is not preparing for a trial, you can find him either at a lake near Austin / Kerrville or in Rockport, Texas trying to catch the big one!  In addition to fishing and camping, Scott provides free legal work (known as "pro bono") for a selected few in his community on a yearly basis.
